Yangon
Yangon is the commercial city of Myanmar and covers over 350 sq.km with 5.1 million populations.Yangon is ever green and cool with lush tropical trees, shady parks and beautiful lakes. And it is also known as Garden city of East.
The world famous Shwedagon Pagoda
which is the landmark of Myanmar is the pride of Yangon. The golden
dome rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 11 tons of pure
gold.
Yangon is the main gateway to Myanmar by air and sea. Almost all International Airlines serving Myanmar fly to Yangon International Airport. So, one night stay in Yangon is recommended before visiting up country and one night at the end of the trip.
Mandalay
Mandalay
is the second largest city of Myanmar and the last capital of the
Myanmar Kings. It is located in the Central Myanmar, 668 km north of Yangon. It is also the commercial center with rail, road, river and air links to all parts of the country.
Mandalay
is best known not only for its rich traditional, cultural and spiritual
splendor but also exquisite handicraft such as hand-woven embroidery in
silk and cotton, the incredible process of making gold leaves, wood and
stone carving and bronze casting etc.
There are several ancient capitals around Mandalay such as Amapura, Sagaing, Ava, Mingun where Kongbaung dynasty kings established their capitals respectively.
To recover the main highlight site, need 1 or 2-night stop.
Bagan
Bagan is the main tourist attraction in Myanmar and 500km away north of Yangon.It's reach by flight 1:20 hr, by road takes 9 hr from Yangon and by river 9 hr from Mandalay. Bagan is founded at 10th century and today it's become one of the richest archaeological sites in Asia.
It's located on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River. Bagan
is the first capital of Myanmar Empire and covers an area of 42 sq.km
with 2231 well-preserved pagodas and temples of the 11th – 13th century.
Bagan is not only famous for the monuments but also can study the ways of people and some handcraft such as lacquerware.
Bagan is a highlight of any trip to Myanmar. So, a minimum one-night stay is essential to recover the main site such as Shwezigon, Ananada Temple, Gubyaukgyi Temple, Manuha Temple, Dammayangyi Temple, Thatbaynyu Temple, Htilominlo Pagoda, Shwesandaw and etc…
Inle
This vast picturesque lake, 900 meters sea-level, is one of the main tourist attractions in Myanmar.The
lake is 22 km long and 10 km across and has a population of some
150,000, many of whom live on floating islands of vegetation.
Inle
Lake, natural and unpolluted, is famous for its scenic beauty and the
unique leg-rowing of the inthas, the native lake dwellers.
A place we cannot miss in our itinerary is this scenic beauty of Inle Lake so at least a one-night or two-night’s stay is strongly recommended.
Kyaikhtiyoe (Golden Rock)
The famous legendary Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda is located in the small town called Kyaikhto, in the Mon State. The pagoda is also known as ''The Golden Rock''. This destination is 160km away from Yangon and 4-hour drive.
The Pagoda is situated on a rocky Mountain 1100m (3615ft) above sea-level. Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda
is one of the most ancient and celebrated of all pagodas in Myanmar and
said to have been built during the life-time of the Buddha over 2400
years.
It is a 11 km uphill climb for the hikers from Kinpun base camp to the rock, if we trek it takes 7 hrs. walk or 1 hr. drive up hill by open truck to Hermit hill. And then it takes 45 minutes’ trek to reach the Golden Rock. For the people who cannot trek, the palanquins are available.
The season of pilgrimage is from October to May.
